Pokemon Online

by Gaius

Anyway. [/Nerd]

Or else, hindi mo makukumpleto ang collection mo, or even mapaEvolve ang ilang pokemon.

So..

POKEMON ONLINE. Official Website, Wiki, Windows, Mac & Linux Clients, and of course: the Android App. So, how do we do this?

1.) Free & No registration needed. As you can see below, Pokemon Online is organized inside a chat room. Anyone can host servers (here's a link regarding the Server Software), and you only need a unique nickname and the downloaded files to start.

2.) First, download and install the latest Pokemon Online APK to your phone. Go to Settings -Applications, then check the Unknown Sources box. Transfer the APK file from here to your SDCard, and open it using a File Manager. There are many apps for that, but I recommend Astro.

After the install finishes, you can run Pokemon Online, and see the servers available. Change your nickname, select a server, and join it. You can now CHAT! YEY! WOooo... wait. How do we battle? Ok, next step.

Ps. By the way, I am (and will almost always be) [CZB]Kelsier. Most of the writers and guests here in 1hourlater will have the [CZB] tag, since that is our clan. We plan on staying in the Pokemon Online Server (188.165.249.120:5080), mainly on the default #TohjoFalls channel, the #Tournaments channel, and the soon to open [CZB]Pinoy channel. Chat with us!

3.) Download and Install the Windows, Mac or Linux Client from here. It is absolutely essential (Not really. See notes below.) in order to battle online.

Here's the gist of Pokemon Online: There is NO ADVENTURE MODE. No need to grind levels, no need to travel the world. The point of this, is to battle other players. To skillfully build a balanced team while remaining in your chosen tier. To win tournaments and climb the ranks. And of course, become a Pokemon Master™.

4.) After installing the client, run Pokemon Online and go to the Team Builder. You can also go online here, but let's focus on the android app. You can also set your trainer information on the trainer tab, but the main purpose of this app is the Pokemon Team tab.

5.) Create your team. Pick a slot (you can only carry up to 6 pokemons), then pick a pokemon to go into that slot. (I will expand on this on my next article, where I'll discuss Tiers). After that, you'll notice that the pokemon will automatically have 100 levels as well as max. stats. There are three major things to remember here

~ EV - Drag the Sliders besides your pokemon's stats in order to enhance that stat. Make sure to maximize all of your EV points, since you can bet that everyone that you'll battle would probably have their pokemons maxed out too. You can change your Pokemon's Nature too, get a small boost on one stat and a slight penalty on another.
~ Held Item - You CANNOT USE ITEMS in this game. Therfore, your pokemon's held item is the only item that you can utilize.
~ Moveset - Of course, you need to set your pokemon's moves. Every learnable move of the pokemon is listed, whether you can learn it through levelling up, breeding, TM or move tutor. I suggest using STAB moves (Same Type Attack Bonus) such as an Electric-type Pikachu with an Electric-type move Thunderbolt. Also, anticipate your opponents: Electric-type Pikachu's most likely opponent would be a ground type. Learning a Grass-type move Grass Knot would quickly dispatch ground pokemon via Elemental Weakness.

6.) Repeat the process until you have six pokemon in your team. Double check your team. Note: You don't have to be online in order to use the team builder.

7.A) Here's the tricky part: You need to import your team to the Android App. You can save the file (trainerName.tp) and transfer it through USB cable into your phone's SDCard. Or we can use QR Codes, which in my opinion, is a lot faster. On the Team Builder, Click Plugins. If there is no "Export Team to QR Code" option, click Plugin Manager-Add Plugin, then select QRCodePlugin.dll. Close the Plugin Manager and go back to the Plugin Menu. Click Export Team to QR Code. A QR Code should appear just like below.

7.B) Open the Pokemon Online on your phone. If you're already in the Chat room, hit menu-disconnect. You should be back on the server select screen. Click the button that says "Import Team". If you used the file method, just search for the file. If you used the QR Code method, the app will ask you to install a Barcode Scanner. Don't worry, its safe. After doing so, just scan your generated QR Code. Don't forget to maximize the QR Code screen so that you'd scan the whole thing.

8.) If a "Team Successfully imported" toast appears, then congratulations! It's time to battle! Join a server again, and pick a channel. The Pokemon Online Server normally has a bunch of people, especially in their default channel #TohjoFalls. You can slide the chatroom to the right in order to see the players. You can long press individual players to challenge them, or you click the menu button and select "Find Battle" to automatically find a willing player.

9.) Enjoy! (and WIN!)

Note: You can try Pokemon Online first before going through the hassle of creating a team! You'd just have to use one of my teams instead. Do Steps 1 & 2, then go directly to Step 7.B- scan the QR Codes that I provided on step 7.A! I think both of them are Tier WiFi OU, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy~

note: wow. 1,200 words + pics. Maybe I should've turned this article into three parts, instead of just two..
