SNESoid

Family Computers. Halos lahat sa atin ay nagsimulang maglaro ng digital games mula sa family computers. Techincally, ang mga lumang family computers ay talagang mga Nintendo Entertaintment Systems, o NES, at ang mga mas sikat at mas bagong fami-coms ay ang mga Super NES, o SNES.

Fast forward to the year 201Xs: uso na ang mga smart phones. Ang henerasyon ng mga lumaki sa fami-coms ay may mga anak na ngayon. No wonder marami sa mga developers ay sinusubukang ibalik ang SNES sa ating mga mobile devices: Symbian, iPhone and Android phones all have a working SNES emulator. At dahil pinoy tayo, we're going with the only free option: the Android SNES app, SNESoid.

Ang SNESoid (SNES for Android) is not available sa Android Market. Meron mga free SNES emu apps doon, tulad ng SuperGNes Lite, ngunit meron silang mga limitasyon tulad ng kawalan ng Save/Load states. So, papano nating makukuha ang SNESoid? Pwede tayong maghanap sa internet ng APK files (installers), pero may mas madaling paraan:

1. Pumunta sa SlideMe.org
2. i-Download at iInstall ang SAM (SlideMe Android Market)
3. Search and install SNESoid.

Ang SlideMe market ay isa sa mga alternative marketplaces na nagoofer ng android apps, tulad ng Samsung Apps o GetJar. Ngaung meron na taung Emulator, wag kalimutan mag lagay ng ROMs sa inyong sdcard. Eto ay ilan sa mga classics:

• Final Fantasy V. One of the very first real JRPGs out there, hinding hindi ko malilimutan si Butz Klauser at ang kanyang chocobo na si Boco :) Link to ROM.

• Chrono Trigger. One of the best stories out there, even by today's standards. Seriously dudes, pwede mo labanan ang final boss within the first 15 minutes into the game! Link to ROM.

• Kung Final Fantasy ang isa sa mga original JRPGs, ang Zelda: Link to the Past ay ANG original kickass adventure game. Link to ROM. (PS. Babae po si Zelda. Si Link ung bida (nka green na dude)).

• Marami sa inyo ay lumaki sa Super Mario- ako hindi. Hindi ako magaling sa mga platformer na mga games. Kung kaya ang nilaro ko noon ay Super Mario RPG. Link to ROM.

• Pero kung papapiliin ako kung ano ang pinaka magandang platformer, mas trip ko parin ang MegaMan X series :) Link to ROM.

Isa sa mga unique features ng SNESoid ay ang kakayahan nito na makapag MULTIPLAYER. oo, kaylangan lang ng isa pang android device na may nakainstall ding SNESoid, at bluetooth. Pwede rin WiFi, although hindi pa namin natrytry. Pumili ng Rom na may multiplayer option- dapat pareho kayo ng kasama mo ng pipiliin na game (syempre). Tapos, pindutin ang menu button at piliin ang NetPlay. Siguraduhing nka-On ang bluetooth nga phones nyo. Sinubukan namin to ni Barber's Cut Host Jun, at merong konting lag sa bluetooth, pero nakapaglaro kami ng ilang masasayang old-school games. Tulad ng:

• Classic 2 player :) Contra 3, up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right-B-A-select-start. Link to ROM.

• Mortal Kombat 3, One of the first serious 2 player "versus" fighting games. Ang daya, nka Xperia Play si Jun :( Link to ROM.

• Kirby's Dream Land 3, is a very nice cooperative side scroller game. Quite fun, at maniwala kayo sa hindi, medyo komplikado din ang larong ito. Link to ROM.

Currently, etong dalawang games na to ang aking pinagtritripan laruin:

• Blazeon. Spaceship sidescroller, kung saan pwede kang sumapi sa mga kalabang spaceships. Link to ROM.

• Rayearth. I love Mecha, especially Mecha Animer. This is one of the first Mecha Animes that I watched, at nung nalaman ko na may Rayearth game sa SNES, hindi pwedeng hindi ko to tapusin :) Link to ROM.
